1 What is the process that occurs in green plants where food is made?
(Photosynthesis)

2 State four conditions (or substances) needed for the process of photosynthesis. (Carbon dioxide, water, sunlight and chlorophyll)

3 What is the function of chlorophyll? (To absorb light for photosynthesis)

4 State the change of energy that occurs in photosynthesis. (Light energy → chemical energy)

5 In the laboratory activity to test the presence of starch as a product of photosynthesis, state

i.the purpose of boiling the small pieces of leaf in a beaker. (To kill the cells and break the cell walls)

ii. the purpose of heating the small pieces of leaf in alcohol.
(To remove chlorophyll)

iii. the purpose of soaking the pieces of leaf in hot water. (To soften the leaf)

6. State the solution that can be used to test the presence of starch in leaf and state the observation. (Iodine solution; A dark blue colour appeared)

7. What is the gas that can be absorbed by sodium hydroxide solution? (Carbon dioxide)
